The Fleece Factory of the Rockies - Sandwalker Ranch LLC

We offer a variety of classes to help any level of artisan. Crafting classes are offered monthly.  All ages are welcome!  Most classes require that you purchase or bring yarns. 


You must reserve your space with a $20 non-refundable deposit. Click on the cost of the class to pay for the deposit using PayPal on our secure site.


This basic drop spindle class will teach you everything you need to know on how to get started with a drop spindle.  This form of spinning is a wonderful way to take your spinning “on the go” and teach you to take control over you “single’s”.  This simple technique can take your yarn to Blue Ribbon winner’s! (It did for Cheri!).  Spinning kits are available for $35 Kit includes: Drop spindle handout, PVC Knitty Knotty (taking yarn off of spindle), a Schadt Drop Spindle 1 ½ oz Top Whorl and 1oz llama roving. Additional  roving of other fiber is available for purchase at the Fleece Factory. DROP SPINDLE SPINNING  taught by Cheri Paxson.


We continue offering our most popular class at no cost.  The Skirting class is for anyone wanting to learn more about this process and about fiber!  Please bring a fleece (blanket and seconds).  This is a very informative class and you can take repeat as often as you like.  The more you know about your fiber the better.

This is a basic acid dye class.  You will be taught basic pot dyeing and hand-painting yarn.  Tools and dye are provided.  Please bring 2 skeins of a protein based fiber (wool, alpaca, etc) for dyeing.  Yarn is available for purchase at the mill.  Please wear clothing that you do not mind staining.

In this fun class you will learn basic techniques and discover simple ways to create and decorate with needle felting.  All materials and tools are included for the class.  Please not that you will be working with a sharp needle and caution is advised.

This is a wonderful weaving class that teaches you a very simple technique.  You will learn how to load your loom and do a simple weave.  tools are provided for use during the class.  Please bring enough filler yarn. bulky yarn or rug yarn, plus a warp yarn for a small rug or place mat size.  Rug yarn, warp yarn and looms are available for purchase at the mill.

Create your own fashion!  Wet felt your own hat.  This class teaches you how protein fibers felt and lock using water!  All materials are provided except a towel for you to take your hat home on.

In this class we will teach very basic rug hooking techniques; loading the frame and basic punching.  Please bring two skeins of yarn (different colors).  Yarn can be purchased at the mill.  The cost of the class includes the punch tool, frame and cloth.

In this class you will learn a basic pattern for creating a hat or scarf.  Rake looms are provided for use during the class or you may bring your own.  Please bring a skein of yarn.  Yarn is available for purchase at the mill.  Feel free to bring a lunch!

Now that you have rug yarn, what are you going to make with it?  We are offering a seminar for people to come and try your hand at projects you could make with rug yarn.  Techniques included in the class are crocheting, hula hoop weaving and NEW - Peg Loom weaving!  Each project will have step by step instructions and a chance for you to try each technique.  This seminar is different from our classes in that we are not able to provide tools to each participant but, we will teach you how to do each technique and allow you to try it.  Rug yarn is available for purchase at the mill.
